FAQ

¿What is the advantage of lighting tunnels with LED strips instead of traditional luminaires?

Traditional luminaries are separated by several meters, so the separation creates dark rings, while the luminaires’ locations create light rings. Therefore, when driving through a tunnel, we feel the light flicker as we travel through these rings at higher speeds, and this flickering effect causes eye fatigue.

¿Are these LED strips waterproof? You know tunnels not only drain water sometimes they flood.

We’re aware of this, which is why our LED strips are waterproof, including connectors with an IP68 penetration rating. This means they can be submerged in water, regardless of whether it’s acidic.

¿What material are the LED strips made of? Are they toxic when burned.

Tunnels are confined areas where gases accumulate during a fire, which is why our LED strips are extruded with food grade silicone, a transparent, resistant and fire-retardant material. This means that when burned, it does not generate toxic gases and are halogen free.

¿What lengths of LED strip do you manufacture and why?

For mining tunnels, we manufacture 10m LED strips, joining them in 50m series. This is because tunnels often lack proper maintenance, causing the floor level to rise and trucks to hit the LED strips, damaging them. When this happens, it’s easier to replace 10m than 50m. For subway and train tunnels that don’t suffer from this problem, we can manufacture 25m and 50m segments to speed up replacement.

¿Does vibration affect the LED strip?

The vibration caused by mining machinery or subway wagons does not affect LED strips at all.

¿What voltages are required to power LED strips?

For high voltage LED strips we use a 220VAC live wire plus neutral or two 110VAC live wires of different phases and indistinct polarity, and for low voltage 48VDC LED strips we use an external multi-voltage driver from 100 to 300VAC regardless the country or electrical standard.

¿What colors of LED strips are available in your product catalog?

All the colors you want are available.

¿Where can I buy your products?

We don’t sell to end customers, but you can purchase the product directly from one of our agents. If there isn’t one in your country, you can apply to become one.

¿How can I become your agent?

You must apply, fill out a form, and demonstrate the type of service or product you currently provide to the mining and subway sector, for example, electrical supplier, consumables and tools supplier, or tunnel builder.

¿Where LED strips are manufactured?

Although our LED strip is designed and prototyped in Texas, USA, due to operational and logistical costs, it is more practical and economical to manufacture and ship it to the rest of the world from our factory in Asia.
